PM&C’s Policy Projects and Taskforce Office has launched a Taskforce Toolkit – a practical, user-centred resource to support APS taskforces throughout the taskforce lifecycle, from scoping and set up through to operation and wind down.

The Toolkit draws upon the insights and experience of hundreds of staff across the APS who have worked on taskforces. It is designed to be useful all levels, from APS to SES.

The Toolkit covers seven key topics: Scope; Governance; Staffing and Leadership; Project Management; Stakeholder Engagement; Taskforce Administration; and Closure and Handover. Each section includes advice on common problems, tips for success and handy resources (such as templates and checklists) to support an effective taskforce.

A particularly useful resource in the Toolkit is the ‘Taskforce on a page’ – a high-level checklist which sets out top tips for effective taskforces with direct links to Toolkit resources.

To facilitate knowledge sharing between taskforces, a repository of lessons learned has also been created, where taskforces are encouraged to undertake a structured self-evaluation of their performance against set objectives and publish a learnings report for the benefit of future taskforces.
