The NZ Policy Project identifed three areas (capability, skills, quality) that can strengthen policy capability and designed three frameworks for reference and improvement of policy advice. The frameworks are:
- The policy capability framework
- The policy skills framework
- The policy quality framework
The policy capability framework can be used to test your agency's policy capability and provide you with ideas about what actions an organisation can take to improve policy.
The policy skills framework can be used to understand what it takes to be a brilliant policy professional, including descriptions of the knowledge, skills and behaviour required to be at the top of your game as a policy professional.
The policy quality framework can be used to understand what good policy looks like and how to create it.
